COVID -19 PRINCIPAL’S UPDATE – APRIL 3 (WEEK 2)
April 3rd 2020
Dear Connaught Families,
Happy Friday! This week was full of learning, new milestones and lots of technology questions for the staff at Connaught Heights. We are all learning a lot, very quickly. The staff was thrilled to be able to connect with so many families this week. We greatly appreciate everyone’s flexibility and willingness to engage in this journey with us.
I wanted to take a moment to share an update on what you can expect for next week and to let you know that I have filmed a new story video. To see my story video, and share it with your child/ren, you can go here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFxIdXHdOf0
This time, I chose a lighthearted story that the kids will hopefully enjoy. If your child has any story requests you can email me and let me know.
For this week, I’d like to share the following update:
April 6th – April 8th:
- The health and safety of our community of staff, students, and families is the top priority and we ask that you not visit the school at this time. If you wish to come pick up some essential belongings please contact me or your child’s teacher to make an appointment.
- Your child’s teacher will continue communication this week and will work on reconnecting with the children (if you have not reached our to your child’s teacher please do so)
- Your child’s teacher may provide some simple activities to help you and your child become comfortable with the platform and to reconnect
- The District will continue to keep families informed of matters related to the COVID-19 response on the website at www.newwestschools.ca. In addition, you will find learning resources on the website to assist you in getting started with remote learning including how to establish a daily routine for your child.
If at anytime, you have questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out to me or your child’s classroom teacher. Communication during this time is vital and we want to ensure that everyone feels connected and included in this process. I have learned a lot this week, and I am sure many of you have as well. New things are often challenging, however I am confident that if we continue to communicate and support each other we will be able to provide the children a wonderful (but different) learning experience. I deeply miss all the children and think about them each day. I hope that they are excited about this new journey in learning.
