Week 11 Covid-19: Principal’s Update
June 5th 2020
Dear Connaught Families,
I cannot tell you how exciting it was to have the children, and families, back at the school this week. I want to thank all of you for being so thoughtful and diligent as we returned to partial in-class instruction. We had an extremely successful week of learning in person, and remotely. As we navigate this new way of being, one of the highlights has been all the learning happening outside. Our courtyard has been transformed into a flexible learning space and the grass field has been fondly renamed “the meadow.” Seeing the children and staff laughing, smiling and reconnecting has been such a joy.
Next week, we will continue to observe the same safety practices and procedures. If your child is not currently attending in-class instruction and you would like them to begin please email me directly or call the school. Once we have heard from you, we will let you know when your child will be able to start.
I wanted to share a couple of important updates with you:
- Attached to this letter you will find our school calendar for next year. We have planned for a typical year, but may have to adapt and adjust depending on what the new school year looks like.Connaught Heights Calendar 2020-2021.pdf
- Our school bell schedule has changed slightly. Please take a moment to look at the calendar document and to see the adjusted bell schedule.
- Mrs. Cannon will be retiring at the end of this year. We are all sad to see her leave the Connaught community, as she has been such an important member. However, we could not be more excited for her to start this new chapter (and we have a feeling she still might come visit).
- If you have library books we ask that you return them to the school, so that we can do our inventory. We have placed a large bin outside the office for library books that are being returned. Please feel free to come by anytime between 8:45-3:15. You do not need to make an appointment if you are simply returning books.
I know that over the last several months there has been lots of changing, adapting and learning. I am so thankful to be a part of a community where people are willing to try their best and trust us to do our best. Please know that I welcome any questions or concerns. Reach out anytime.
With the deepest gratitude,
Jennifer Scorda (firstname.lastname@example.org)
